Menifee, CA– April 1 is Census Day across the nation. In every community, residents are asked to complete a short questionnaire.
Counting America’s population every ten years is required by the Constitution. For every person counted, from infants and young children to older adults, the State of California receives funding from the federal government.
This equates to billions of dollars annually for California. But Census data isn’t just about dollars, it is also used to apportion those dollars for a wide variety of federal, state and regional programs and projects. Responding in Menifee helps our community receive its fair share.
Census data is also used to determine congressional representation. The city uses census data to plan services and projects, and to place facilities like fire stations, parks and community centers where they will be most effective.
The census asks basic demographic questions such as: how many people are living in the home; is the home owned or rented and the age, sex, race and relationships of people in the household.
Your personal information is kept confidential. The Census Bureau is bound by federal law to protect your information, and your data is used only for statistical purposes. Your responses are compiled with information from other homes to produce statistics, which never identify your home or any person in your home.
