Menifee/Sun City resident Rex Finley passed away at age 98.  He was elected to the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2010.  I know Rex because even after he stoped playing Senior softball at age 94, he would come down to Wheatfield park and sit in the visitors dugout on Field 1 and watch our games.  Fellow Menifee Senior Softball teammate Ed Nicholls Jr. said of Rex,  “Not just a hall of fame player, a hall of fame man. I am a better man because I got to know him.” It was always a special moment when Rex acknowledge one of your plays on the field or shared one of his many softball stories with you.  He had 12 world champion rings.

Professionally Rex was a mail man in Ohio and Simi Valley, California. He was married for 76 years to Irene who passed over a year ago. Rest in Peace Rex.

Note: Rex Finley’s family has advised that his services will be on Monday, February 24, 2020. Place and time to be advised.
